Queen Elizabeth II’s latest fashion statement may have doubled as a statement about #Megxit!

Over the weekend, the British monarch turned heads when she was seen attending a morning service at Sandringham with a Canadian snowflake brooch — which many took as a subtle tribute to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big move to Canada.

Her Majesty was gifted this special piece of jewelry in 2017 by former Canadian Governor General David Johnston, so her decision to wear it on the heels of the soon-to-be former Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s historic migration to the Great White North speaks volumes.

As royal fanatics know, the Queen has been known to communicate — and even potentially throw shade — via her brooches. In 2018, rumors swirled that Lizzie subtly insulted President Donald Trump by wearing a brooch given to her by the Obamas the same day Trump arrived in the UK for his trip to meet with her.

So, her wearing a snowflake brooch in the wake of Megxit could very well be a subtle nod of approval. (Or, she could just be calling Harry and Meg snowflakes who can’t handle criticism… LOLz!)

Either way, the Queen has expressed her well-wishes to the new parents as they step down as senior royals. After meeting with Harry, Prince William, and Prince Charles to create “workable solutions” for the 35-year-old as he transitions into his new “progressive” role in the Land of Maple Leaf, she issued a statement sharing her support and laying out the new royal framework.

She said last month:

“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family… Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”

Meanwhile, other valued parts of her family will become even more valued: William recently received a new title as the Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, which entails, according to the Royal UK website:

“The Lord High Commissioner’s role is to maintain the relationship between the State and the Church, and a long-standing tradition of appointing a Lord High Commissioner originated in the latter part of the 16th Century.”

Sounds important!

But let’s get back to the real story here: do U think the Queen was letting the people know she approves of Megxit? Share your thoughts (below)!
