Slipknot Singer Corey Taylor Has Written a Horror Movie

Metal and horror have always made for quite a nice combination. It’s like peanut butter and jelly. It just works. So it might not be too surprising to hear that Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is, indeed, a horror movie fan. So much so that he’s written a script for a horror movie that he’s trying to get financed as we speak.

Corey Taylor has been very busy as of late, with Slipknot’s latest album We Are Not Your Kind coming out this year, with a massive tour to follow. He’s also the lead singer of Stone Sour and has a rotating number of solo projects he’s working on as well. During a recent interview, when asked about what the future holds, Taylor revealed that he’s penned a horror movie script. Here’s what he had to say about it.

“I wrote a script for a horror movie that I’m really stoked about. And I just broke the skin on book five, so I’m working on that as well. I’ve got a lot of things going on, but I’m also making sure there’s plenty of time for my family, my marriage and home. God knows, you never know how much time you’re gonna get there.”

Unfortunately, the musician didn’t dish out any additional details at this time. What’s the movie about? Does he plan to star in it? Direct it? Is it a full-length feature? More of a short? Will it be anything like a mashup between Pennywise and Slipknot. For the time being, we have far more questions than answers. Though, in a different interview with Rolling Stone, Corey Taylor explained that he’s working on partnering with investors and producers as we speak.

“I’m actually working on a movie right now. I finished a script and I’m aggressively looking for investors and producers. I’ve got all this stuff that I still want to get out of my system.”

That makes it sound like he’s very serious about getting this thing made. One quick trip to Corey Taylor’s IMDB page reveals that this is new territory for the man. He’s acted in several projects, such as an episode of Doctor Who, and he’s producing Icon: The Robert Englund Story, which is set to honor the man who brought Freddy Kreuger to life in A Nightmare on Elm Street. So horror is definitely in his wheelhouse and the movie business isn’t totally foreign to him.

The idea of musicians making the leap to Hollywood is certainly nothing new. It’s been happening for decades now, and some pull it off rather well. Metalheads certainly have a history there. Just look at Dee Snider in Strangeland and Alice Cooper in Prince of Darkness and Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. So who knows? Maybe Corey Taylor can add produced horror screenwriter to his already impressive resume in the not-too-distant future. Hopefully, we’ll get some more details on the project sooner rather than later.
